Wine Making

Vinification: Combination of seasoned American & Hungarian oak for 24 months

Vintage Conditions: Good winter rainfall meant near full soil moisture profiles at budburst. Moderate rain during early spring encouraged good shoot growth, with a quick and even flowering resulting in excellent fruit set. Mild & dry conditions, without any significant extremes continued throughout the growing season. Production levels were excellent, above long term averages and the mild & slow ripening conditions enabled strong varietal character to develop. Vintage was dry and the weather stable so fruit was harvested, at optimal flavour development and high natural acidity. A “goldilocks” vintage.

Vine Clone: BVRC 30

Awards/Reviews

93 Wine Business Magazine – A spicy, peppery, herbal and dark fruited Shiraz with the ample calling cards of black plum, blueberry, dark chocolate, cola and aniseed in tow.
Love the gravelly, grunty profile to tannin, the nice grip of that textural feel tightens up the riper fruit characters. Bold and brash but feels balanced too. Impressive for its regional character as well. All up, a success in its brooding, lusher intent. – Mike Bennie, July 2024

93 Wine Orbit – Splendidly fruited and inviting, the wine shows blackberry, rich floral, clove and roasted nut aromas. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity together with supple texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing long and flavoursome. – Sam Kim, January 2024

93 Wine Showcase

Double Gold Gilbert Gaillard International Challenge – Light red with hints of ruby-brown. Fine vanilla, smoke and spice on the nose, with blackcurrant, cherry and black plum aromas. Slender and elegant mouthfeel, with long-lasting fruit. The tannins are polished, the body round, velvety and comfortable.
