2016 Cabernet Shiraz Single Vineyard

Deep ruby with a nose of sweet cherry, dark berry jam, fig leaf, orange rind, bay and woody spice. The palate is long and driven by rich and fresh flavours of blackberry, cassis, blueberry, red cherry and plum. A grip of oak tannins gives texture while a hum of berry acidity carries and lifts. It’s long, structured and fades with a tail of chocolate and red berries – iHeartwine

Splendidly fruited and complex, the wine shows blackcurrant, spiced cherry, cedar and subtle dried herb notes on the nose. It’s equally attractive on the palate delivering terrific fruit power combined with spicy nuances, finishing long and delectably appealing

Vinification: 26 months in new & seasoned oak barrels

Vintage Conditions: 2016 was a standout vintage for all red varieties. The characteristics of our Cabernet and our Shiraz that year were perfect to create our popular signature red blend, a classic Australian Cab Shiraz. Autumn and winter were dry and cool which meant the start of the growing season was slightly delayed. Rainfall was low and some irrigation was used to replenish the soil moisture. Relatively mild summer climatic conditions with warm days and cool nights. An absence of extreme heat ensured the fruit was able to ripen evenly and the flavours intensify.

Vine Clone: LC14 and BVRC30

Harvest Date: March 16, 2016

Ripe, juicy and fairly straightforward on the nose, it has a bit of a leafy lift to it as well that builds the complexity. There’s dark plummy flavours and a touch of chocolate and some typical cabernet leafiness, but not green and underripe. For all it’s plumpness and juicy-fruited qualities, it still possesses structured and serious tannins that keep everything lined up  – The Real Review
