Our Chardonnay is making a splash!

Our Chardonnay is making a splash!

Our 2023 Chardonnay Single Vineyard is turning heads, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.  It’s been chosen by renowned wine critic Nick Ryan for The Australian’s prestigious Top 100 Wines of 2024. Landing a spot in the highly sought-after 20 Whites Under $35 category.  This recognition not only highlights the quality of our Chardonnay but also its exceptional value.

But wait, there’s more! 😉 Our 2023 Chardonnay has also secured a place in the Best Wines of 2024 mixed dozen, standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the year’s finest wines.

The Journey Behind the Bottle

For us, this recognition is the result of years of hard work, dedication, and a deep commitment to crafting wines that truly reflect our vineyard’s unique character whilst offering incredible value to you, our supporters.

Nick Ryan, Senior Wine Writer for The Australian, known for his discerning palate, had this to say about our 2023 Chardonnay.

“Jane Richards and Claire Davies, sisters with four kids each, one day decided free time was an easily discarded commodity, so they bought a big vineyard in Wrattonbully, South Australia, near where they grew up, and established a wine label while they were at it. It’s a testament to their skill, hard work and manageable madness that they can produce wines as good as this. Bright deftly shaped and flavour packed.”

What makes our 2023 Chardonnay special?

The growing conditions for the 2023 Chardonnay were marked by a strong start, thanks to good winter rains that provided ample soil moisture and ensured there were no frost events. These favourable conditions set the stage for a promising growing season. However, the cooler temperatures throughout the year led to a delayed start in vine growth, and flowering occurred later than usual.

The cooler conditions continued to influence the vineyard, with fruit set impacted by the slower season. As a result, some varieties yielded below average, but the Chardonnay grapes thrived in the cool, mild weather. This extended growing period allowed the fruit to ripen gradually, providing the grapes with ample time to develop delicate flavours.

As a result of these growing conditions, our 2023 Chardonnay Single Vineyard has received the following awards:

  • 94 points Awarded by Nick Ryan, The Australian
  • 93 points Wine Showcase Magazine
  • 90 points Double Gold Gilbert Gaillard International Challenge
  • 90 points Wine Orbit

A Toast to You
